Faith Leaders Continue Dialogue on Truth and Reconciliation
For release January 20

When a tornado watch was announced during the first National Event of Truth and Reconciliation Canada (held in Winnipeg on June 16-19, 2010), several important events were suddenly cancelled. One of these has been rescheduled and will be held in Winnipeg next month.

The event is a Round Table Discussion on Reconciliation; it would have been a key moment in the popular Interfaith Tent. The round table invites people to explore what various faith traditions teach about healing and reconciliation. The Discussion is formally titled:

Living the Dialogue: Paths to Reconciliation

The re-scheduled dialogue will feature local leaders from 4 world faiths:

Dr. Brian Rice (Mohawk Nation) – will moderate and also give an explanation to the teaching of the Two Row Wampum with a Wampum Belt used by Chief Jake Thomas

Chickadee (Catherine) Richard (Anishinaabe Nation) – Spiritual Caregiver in the Manitoba Aboriginal Community

Ketan Joshi (Hindu) – Founder and Coordinator, Gita Study Circle, Winnipeg

Rabbi Lawrence Pinsker (Jewish) – Associate Rabbi, Shaarey Zedek Synagogue

Radhika Abeysekera (Sri Lankan) – Founder of Buddhist Association

The rescheduled round table will be held at the:

University of Winnipeg, Convocation Hall
7 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, February 10, 2011

All are welcome to attend and admission is free.

Newly co-hosted by Menno Simons College, which is affiliated with the University of Winnipeg

The Manitoba Interfaith Committee of TRC is comprised of representatives of 6 Christian Churches and members of other world faiths.
