Faculty Position — Conflict Resolution Studies/Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies
Menno Simons College, part of Canadian Mennonite University's Faculty of Social Sciences and an affiliated college with The University of Winnipeg, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Conflict Resolution Studies. Specific areas of expertise could include ecological peacebuilding; conflict resolution in organizational, workplace, and educational settings; indigenous and other non-Western conflict transformation practices; restorative justice; or peace and human rights issues.
Teaching responsibilities will be in undergraduate programs that cross disciplinary boundaries and exhibit a high degree of diversity. Successful candidates will work with several full-time faculty members and contract faculty in the Conflict Resolution Studies/Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies department – the largest undergraduate program offered in Canada. We seek individuals who have the capacity to contribute a complementary specialty to current strengths of the faculty as well as the flexibility of teaching and research interests that facilitate collaborating with and building upon current faculty strengths.
Applicants should hold a PhD, or be near completion of their doctorate, in an area relevant to peace and conflict studies. Successful candidates will have a solid theoretical and methodological background, a demonstrated potential for strong scholarly research and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Interested candidates should submit a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, a one-page statement on how their work will contribute to the mission of MSC including its relationship to CMU, substantial evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three references.
Subject to final budgetary approval, the appointment will begin July 1, 2012. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin December 15, 2011 and will continue until the position is filled.
