General Conditions
The Deadline for receipt of applications is as follows:
- Continuing students February 12th, 2010
- Entrance May 28th, 2010
year; entrance scholarships are processed in June of each year.
General Conditions:
1. Candidates for scholarships must be full-time students who are enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours in each semester, 3 credit hours of which must be International Development and/or Conflict Resolution Studies courses.
2. Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of academic performance, with some consideration of the applicant’s history of community service, extracurricular activities, and leadership experience.
3. Students must have all application components submitted prior to the deadline outlined on the application form.
4. Entrance Scholarships are awarded to students entering their first year of University level studies. Students must be enrolled in Introduction to Conflict Resolution Studies or Introduction to International Development Studies. Deadline for application is typically in May of each year.
5. Continuing Student Scholarships are awarded to students who have completed, at minimum, Introduction to International Development or Introduction to Conflict Resolution Studies. Candidates must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 and officially declared a major in Conflict Resolution Studies or International Development Studies. Deadline for application is typically in February of each year.
6. Select Menno Simons College Scholarships are designated as Multi-Year Scholarships. Students receiving these scholarships will be awarded funds on an annual basis for up to three years. Students must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5 in order for their scholarship to be renewed each year. A written statement indicating the student’s intention to renew and a copy of the student’s marks statement must be submitted by May 30th of each year.
7. Menno Simons College Bursaries are available to full-time students who demonstrate a financial need, are majoring in International Development Studies or Conflict Resolution Studies, and are enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours of International Development and/or Conflict Resolution Studies courses in a given academic year.
8. The Menno Simons College Scholarship Committee reserves the right not to award a particular scholarship or bursary in any year where there are no funds available, or no candidate is able to fulfill the criteria for eligibility.
